By the morning, however, we inquired again and it was no problem. We were told, for example, that there was no way that we could possibly extend our stay for a second night when we first checked in because they were already overbooked by 5 cabins. If anyone has a beef about how Paragon reserves its rooms, we discovered it stems from the fact that lodging is primarily used as a comp for high-rolling gamblers and not that many people actually come in as tourists and pay for their accommodations the way we did. There are also larger trailers to stay in, plus parking slips for RV's. The cabins themselves are made to appear 'rustic' from the outside, but are actually charming furnished apartments inside and suitable for family lodging with a kitchen set-up and deck for barbecuing. The RV Resort is located behind the main hotel/casino building, but its guests still have access to the grounds like anyone else, including the use of both of the property's outdoor swimming pools. It was an excellent value at $49.95 plus tax on a weeknight. Rather than go to a more expensive hotel in Alexandria, we chose one of the cabins in the RV Resort behind Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville, LA. My 9-year-old daughter and I had been driving 1700 miles cross-country and just wanted to relax at a place with a swimming pool that didn't cost a lot of money.
